GLENVIEW 4-H CLUB ATTENDS OUR CLUB LUNCHEON - 06/12/2018

Jessica Wittenstein, President of the Glenview 4-H club spoke at our Monday luncheon meeting on June 11th.  Jessica is a recent graduate of Glenbrook South High School and will be attending the Univesity of Maryland in the fall.  Also attending is 4-H member Sebastian Zimmer and Todd Price (not shown), Manager of the iconic Wagner Farm in Glenview where the 4-H club is headquartered.  It is interesting to note that  this 4-H club is the largest club in membership in the state of Illinois.  Jessica and Sebastian spoke about the care and raising of lambs.


HANDS OF PEACE SPOKE AT OUR MONDAY LUNCHEON - 06/12/2018

WE WILL be part of the solution that brings Freedom, Equality, and a Just and Positive Peace for all Israelis and Palestianians.  This program, started in Glenview several years ago at the Glenview Community Church, will again host the Chicago-area program for three weeks during the month of July.  Julia Durst (left), Program Director and Maeve Plunkett, Communications Liasion  are shown presenting a short video about the program.  Hands of Peace is an interfaith organization that empowers young people to raise their voices as leasders of change.  Palestinians, Israelis and Americans partner to pursue peace, equality, freedom and justice.  Hands of Peace believes...


GLENBROOK NORTH WINNER OF TOPAZ-KIWANIS GRANT-IN-AID - 06/05/2018

Naomi Lutz, a member of the Glenbrook North High School Key Club in Northbrook, is the 2018 winner of the Topaz-Kiwanis $1,000 grant-in-aid for her college tuition.  Presenting the award to Naomi is Joe Pollina, member of the club and Assistant Director of Recreation at the Glenview Park District.  Congratulations to Naomi!


ATTEA MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDER'S CLUB ATTENDS LUNCHEON - 05/21/2018

Five students, and their faculty advisors attended our Monday luncheon and provided a Power Point presentation of their service activity during the year..  Among the several projects they reviewed was a Saturday of Service at The Grove, accompanied by their parents and members of the Key Club of Glenbrook South High School.  On Red Nose Day (think clowns) they raised almost $200. for charity. and coming up in June is the 13th Annual Car Wash to raise funds for the School Districrt 34 Debra Gelfand fund that benefits kids of lesser affluence in the district.  These students and their faculty advisors are an amazing group of committed people that gives new meaning to the phrase...


SPRINGMAN BUILDER'S CLUB SPEAKS AT LUNCHEON - 05/14/2018

Students from the Springman Junior High School in Glenview attended our Monday luncheon today and each of them gave a brief presentation of the many and varied service projects they have performed this year.  Not shown is their faculty advisor, Laura Iannotti, who teaches Language Arts.  Ms Iannotti also coachs vollyball at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Glenview and also at Loyola Academy in Wilmette.  Both the students and their teacher/advisor give renewed meaning to the phrase "giving back to the community in which you live."


BUILDERS CLUB FROM MAPLE SCHOOL IN NORTHBROOK - 05/07/2018

The Builders Club from Maple School in Northbrook was well represented at our meeting today, May 7th.  On the left is Jill Rathge who teaches health, physical education and is also the girl's vollyball coach.  April Vos is the other faculty advisor and she teaches social studies.  In between these ladies is our club liaison member Bob Smith, a retired ortodontist.  This is the second year the club has existed and it has 18 active members which is double the number from last year.  These students are doing wonderful things, like raising $1,300 for a special needs student,  April will accompany the 8th graders on a field trip next week to Washington, D.C. ...


PRESIDENT PATTERSON GIVES STATE OF THE VILLAGE - 05/06/2018

President Jim Patterson gives a state of the Village of Glenview address to the club at our weekly meeting on Monday, May 30th.  Among the many interesting facts Jim talked about is that the village purchased the former Bess Hardware site which has been vacant for the past seven years.  The village now has several developmental projects under consideration.  Also Jim spoke about the 3rd railroad freight holding track which which may be placed within the village limits.  For more information about this important issue please visit the Village of Glenview website.

TOURING SCOTLAND WITH JIM PROVENZA - 03/26/2018

<p>Our member, Jim Provenza&nbsp;along with his wife, toured&nbsp;Scotland last October and we got to see photos from that tour.&nbsp; This is the fourth trip overseas that Jim and his wife have taken with that PBS tour guy, Rick Steves.&nbsp; Jim highly recommends the Steves tours.</p>


INDUCTION OF TWO NEW MEMBERS TODAY - 03/19/2018

Our estemmed member, Greg Goodsitt (finger pointing to the floor), is inducting two new members into the club today.  On Greg's right is Frank L. Sclavenitis who lives in Glenview, grew up in Glenview, and is the Senior Account Executive of American Solutions for Business which he operates out of his home.  On Greg's left is Jimmy Place who also owns his own public relations and branding business here in Glenview.  We extend a hearty welcome to these new members and look forward to their involvment in our club activities.
